FRL Breaks 4 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hi All

in light of doing some extenstive testing on trend lines i want to use this thread to throw up subjective situations where I am unsure of whether it is a situation of price breaking the FRL or FRL breaking price action

anyone else who may also be testing trend lines i also warmly welcome you to throw up some subjective situations for we can only learn

I went as far back as 1990 for a few reasons -
A) nearly everything went up since 2003
B ) market conditions change and from 1990-present we get a wide range of market conditions - bullish, sideways and falling

first question comes in - if there are only two mhtps and the two mhtps are within market noise of each other - does that render the frl invalid?

Post edited by: Deon, at: 28/03/2008 03:32

HI Deon,

If there are only 2 points, run the line across those 2 points, you are only using a line of best fit when you have 3 or more points, and all the points need to be within the trading bands to be relevant.

Hi Pete

sorry, should rephrase that....

if the HIGHS of two MHTPs are within market noise of each other , does that render a FRL invalid?

thinking about it... that makes a potential double top.... there are just instances where the two highs are within market noise of each other but there is a clear wavy motion present, shall put up some examples in due course

Sue; trend bands = market noise bands

Hi Peter,

Sorry its taken so long to get back

i have attached an example to demonstrate what i was trying to say ... I have been doing alot of testing on trend lines and would like to find out your opinion on two matters

1) When constructing a trendline, we use two MHTPS or three HTP , what if the two MHTPs or two of the HTPs are within market noise of each other? Does that still render the FRL valid?

2) When assessing the risk/reward ratio from point of breakout of an FRL, how do YOU decide which mhtp to use?

Anyone else who may have done some testing on these two areas please jump in and shout your thoughts

good trading,
Deon
