As a suggestion, instead of the 1MA on close, you can also use the line chart to see if there is enough movement... I personally have no problems with the movement in the closes on this chart... i would have a problem with the trend on something like TAH 30/06/00

see how price action is very closely clustered and the line chart indicates this too, whereas sul was trending all the way to a 40 odd percent gain

But aren't these different things:

Peter is looking at a 1MA to see how the closes are moving, which has an impact on the MACDH

Deon you're looking at trending price action????

Both relevant, but can't use the same techniques to compare them.

Is that a fair and correct comment Peter V.

same thing my friend...

put a 1ma close / simple moving average on chart

then change chart type to line - they will overlay each other

for me the benefit in using line chart instead of 1ma is that it gets rid of the open, high and low of the bar and just leaves the close, it makes the chart just a little more 'cleaner' and 'simple'

I still trade the FRL breaks based on OHLC bars

HI De,

Very good idea, I was overlaying a 1MA on the bars, but if all you are doing is checking how the closes are moving, that is what a line chart measures.

Sometimes a 1 MA is difficult to highlight in order to delete, but changing the chart rom bar to line to bar should be reasonably simple.

Excellent, I personally found interpreting the 1MA a bit difficult - as I'm sure Pete, you won't be surprised about that one!!

And I could actually see the difference between the two charts you gave as an example - I think that ones for me.

Okay, now that we've established all that, is it a valid line and trade????

Thanks,

On looking at the chart again, I think it's because it is moving sideways for quite a while before it breaks out.
