Foundations Tutorial II                    -           Focus on technical indicators.

The objective of this session is to better equip the individual trader to understand and critically evaluate some of the technical (mathematical) indicators that abound in the world of technical analysis (as distinct from real trading). It is often good to know how to separate the wheat from the chaff in the world of indicators.  

At the end of the session participants will have a working knowledge of :

·         Moving averages (simple, weighted and exponential)

·         Trade opportunities from multiple moving averages

·         Moving average oscillators

·         MACD and MACD-Histogram (just what is being measured)

·         Average True Range (ATR) as a good measure of volatility.

The session will be reasonably geared towards those who are mathematically inclined … however, ALL participants will leave with a good working knowledge of how to “drive” the various indicators mentioned.

The skill being developed here is about identifying what is being measured. From this flows the understanding of when NOT to use various “good sounding” mathematical indicators.

Participants with a reluctance towards mathematics will no doubt enjoy the review of the current market … and how their skills on trend line construction are progressing!
